 Connecting to the Community
 Community Outreach Programs

We want to introduce all audiences to live performances and enhance their understanding of the art form. Our outreach programs bring the excitement and joys of a live performance to those who are unable to attend due to financial, physical or geographical limitations. C.A.R.E. (Center Artists Reaching Everywhere) is the umbrella for our community outreach programs.

Community Arts Ensemble

This community-based theatrical production is designed to offer a unique stage experience to the beginning ,as well as seasoned, performer. the essence of this program is to offer an educational and artistically enriching experience to member of our community. Our participants are representative of the rich cultural, ethnic, social and economical diversity that the Tampa Bay area has to offer. Fred Johnson, Artist in Residence at The Center, is the director of these productions, and may be reached at (813) 222-1046. Each show is presented free of charge to the community. Tickets are available at The Center Box Office three weeks before each production. For groups of ten or more, call the Education Department at (813) 222-1085.

 

 Opera-tunity for Kids

This educational program introduces students to the world of opera. Members of The Center's opera team visit area schools and work closely with selected students. Participants, teachers and parents then attend the Opera's dress rehearsal, tour the backstage area of Carol Morsani Hall while introducing them to the world of Grand Opera. Discover Broadway at the Library

In conjunction with the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library System and the Florida Theatrical Association, The Center's education Department hosts a series of discussions featuring cast and company representatives of the productions featured in the 1999-00 Tampa Bay Broadway Series. These noontime performances will be held on the Thursday following each Production's opening night.  S.U.P.E.R. Programs

The Student Usher Program for Education and Recreation (S.U.P.E.R.) is designed to introduce middle school students, ages 13 to 15, to the service end of the performing arts, specifically house management and ushering. While participating in this program they are working with a parent and are able to share this unique experience together. For more information, call (813) 222-1065.
